My love for country fried green tomatoes
Growing up in the country this was a staple in our house. It was a great alternative way of consuming our tomato harvest. I’ve noticed a lot of “city folk” say “ewwww” at the mention of country fried green tomatoes. However, I’m quick to point out that if you like fried pickles, then there’s a high probability you’ll love fried green tomatoes as well.

Super Easy Recipe
This recipe is really easy to follow and only requires, green tomatoes, a flour mix, cracker mix, and egg mix. When I say, “ really easy to follow”? I truly mean really easy to follow. For instance, with this recipe you will avoid the pitfalls of your tomatoes tasting bland or most importantly, having your coating not sticking to your tomatoes.

Top 3 Secrets to Perfect Fried Green Tomatoes
The first secret is in the coating mix and the second is in the skillet temperature. This batter is so wonderful that you can also use it to deep fry jalapeños and mushrooms! As for your skillet temperature, make sure that it’s fully heated on medium high. You don’t want to place your tomatoes into the oil until it’s nice and hot!

The last secret is to make sure to stay on top of your frying! You’ll want to fry each side until they are golden brown. Depending on your setup, this can be anywhere from 3 to 4 minutes on each side. And that’s it! You are ready to enjoy this southern treat! We enjoy dipping ours in Rao’s Homemade Marinara.
